If you were to ask anyone who knows me what makes me happy, they would all say the same three things: horses, cameras, and my dog. I am rarely seen without at least one of those things, and I am truly blessed that I am able to combine two of these loves as a way to make a living.
I grew up around horses, and competed on the Trillium circuit for several years before discovering natural horsemanship. Competing just isn’t for me, but I still love the atmosphere of a horse show. I can still be seen hanging around the show ring, however these days I tend to be at the fence with my camera instead of in the ring with my horse.
I love shooting animals, horses and dogs especially. And I really love capturing the bond between horse and human. Photography became a passion of mine after losing three horses to lightning. I was devastated when I realized just how few images I had of the horses that were lost. I picked up a camera as a hobby (back then not everyone had a cell, and the phones that people did have didn’t have great cameras on them), snapping pictures just for the memories. I like to think that what brought me into photography is what helps make my images special. If you’re like me, animals aren’t just pets to you; they’re a part of the family. I would be honoured to help create long lasting memories for you to enjoy for years to come.

For your standard portrait session, a $300 flat fee covers both the shooting and editing time for 8 images of your choosing. The average photo session will last roughly between 45 - 90 minutes, but they can take more or less time depending on the situation.
Shortly after your session, the unedited proofs for several images will be uploaded into an online gallery for you to choose your favourites to be edited. Additional images beyond the 8 included in the session fee can be edited for an additional fee.
Add a single blackout image to your Horse & Rider session for just $75.
Blackout | Razzle Dazzle
I offer sessions dedicated to that classic, black background look. Prices vary depending on the amount of horses you’re looking to get done.
One horse, three different poses (three images total)………………………………… $200
Two horses, three different poses each (six images total) ………………………. $350
Three horses, three different poses each (nine images total)………………….. $500
*Add some razzle dazzle to your blackout session! $25 per horse for a single glitter colour or $40 per horse for two glitter colours
** Contact me for a more customized blackout session if you require more poses or have additional horses
Mini Sessions
Discounted mini sessions for either horse & rider or blackout sessions are available to boarding or lesson barns with a minimum of four participants. Contact me for more information!

I have very limited availability for events. If you’re interested in having me shoot your show or clinic, please shoot me an e-mail at jcspenny@gmail.com with the information. Priority booking goes to repeat clients. Please note that my summer event schedule is usually decided early in the year. The sooner you contact me, the more likely I will be available for your event.
